Homeless census begins, assessment of needs sought
INLAND EMPIRE ?(INT) - Volunteers are fanning out across the Inland Empire to conduct their annual survey of the region’s homeless.

All 24 cities and towns as well as the unincorporated areas within San Bernardino County were canvassed Thursday by field teams of volunteers. In Riverside County, 500 volunteers will perform their one day “Point-in-Time?census on Tuesday.

Government leaders say their goal is to determine the specific needs of the homeless.

Volunteers are also distributing hygiene kits and items that are helpful in dealing with cold weather. When possible, volunteers may seek to gather information from homeless people they encounter, such as how long an individual has been homeless.
